Preventing Sexual Harassment At Work – What Employers Need To Know Event
Fiona Martin, Director and Head of Employment Law, presents an introduction for managers on how to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace. This session is part of our January 2025 workplace equality campaign #MeToo Matters and is run in association with Community Works.
On 26 October 2024, the Worker Protection Bill came into force, meaning that all employers will have to take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment of workers in the course of their employment.
Our seminar focusses on best practice to avoid sexual harassment occurring at work together with how to run a full and fair investigation should allegations be made.
Our session will include:
- How sexual harassment at work is defined in law
- 8 steps that employers must take to prevent sexual harassment taking place in their workplaces.
- Providing a Sexual Harassment Policy
- Identifying risk
- How to run a full and fair investigation to establish the facts in line with the Acas code of practice on disciplinary and grievance procedures.
- When and how to use Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) in Settlement Agreements
Attendees will be given a Sexual Harassment Policy and come away understanding how to reduce the risk of sexual harassment occurring in your workplace.. This will be coupled with an understanding of how to run a fair and thorough investigation and grievance / disciplinary process should there be any sexual harassment allegations to avoid any reputational and financial risk for your business.
