Martin Searle Solicitors Desperately Seeking a Committed Employment Lawyer to join their Firm
Liz Truss and Suella Braverman might not like activist or lefty lawyers – but we certainly do. This is because our Employment Law team regularly campaign on a range of equality issues such as Mind the Bump, our annual campaign to stamp out pregnancy and maternity discrimination, Disability Matters to end disability discrimination, and #MeToo Matters to end sexual harassment in the workplace.
We like working on complex discrimination cases and definitely get a buzz when winning for the underdog.
For example, we recently obtained a positive judgement for a client with Autism in the Employment Tribunal and are looking to obtain compensation for the discrimination and victimisation he experienced when working as a teacher in a large Secondary school.
We also appreciate that employers sometimes face vexatious or unreasonable claims or may have discriminated inadvertently. For example, by not understanding their duties to make reasonable adjustments for disabled staff.
We want to act for the worker or employer who is telling the truth. As experienced litigators we know the importance of leaving no stone unturned when investigating and preparing our cases. We also know the importance of understanding what discrimination is in UK law as employers/HR and employees often get this wrong.
Not surprisingly the vast majority of our cases settle before proceedings are issued in an Employment Tribunal and we get very good results for our clients.
So where are the lawyers who will fit in our team?
We have been advertising for an experienced employment lawyer to join our already heavyweight employment law team for over a year. Our Employment team is made up of lawyers who each have more than twelve years call. Sarah and I previously worked at the national Trade Union firm, Thompsons.
Laura and Christine, in addition to their experience of working with employees, bring a wealth of experience from their previous work at commercial law firms, acting for employers.
We train other lawyers and HR through MBL and provide free training through Community Works for local not-for-profit companies and charities.
We are a leading firm in the Legal 500 and have won prestigious awards such as the Best New Services for our Professional Deputy Service.
We are now looking for a 0 – 5 year qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive as we have decided to “grow our own”. We want someone who has a passion for employment law but still has a lot to learn. This might suit a solicitor in another area of law who wants to transfer to specialise in employment law, as I did more than 20 years ago, or someone who needs more support and supervision.
Our advert is here and we await with bated breath. So don’t be shy – come on down and check us out and see if we live up to your expectations.
If you want a job with purpose, supervision by experienced specialist employment lawyers and lots of opportunities to network and build your reputation then this could be the job for you.
Next month we celebrate 20 years in business. Cate and I founded our community law firm – for individuals and the business community, on 7 June 2004.
We now have too much new work and not enough expert lawyers to carry out this work – you could say we are a victim of our own success.
So please share our advert with anyone you know who may be interested in joining us. We want to carry on providing a great service but with the possibility of a lunch break now and then.
